Support Groups
Support groups are offered depending on practitioner and scheduling. These groups cover a variety of topics within trauma resolution and recovery and may be done in tandem with individual coaching or therapy work (with a practitioner from the Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery or an independent practitioner not a part of this group). All groups are held online via a video format.
Groups are listed below and updated regularly
Giving Voice to Your Younger Self
Facilitated by Nicole Clifton
Reclaiming and exploring what your younger self missed out on in high control religion
If you grew up in the context of high-control religion, chances are your teenage and young adult years may have been different than many other people your age. There were likely a lot of expectations and rules, spoken and unspoken, about who you were allowed to be and what you were allowed to do. Many people feel like they missed out on certain experiences or developmental norms, and are trying to figure out what to do about that as an adult. Sometimes people feel like it was all bad; some don’t know how to hold the anger or sadness about what went wrong, while also holding the tension of what may gone well. Both in my personal and professional life, I have seen the value in getting to reclaim and explore things that our younger selves wanted to but weren’t able to at the time. Sometimes that’s really fun and joy-filled. Sometimes we have to grieve what we missed out on. Sometimes we have to learn how to have compassion for our younger self, who did the best they could in the context they lived in.

Navigating Family Relationships
Facilitated by Nicole Clifton
Learning how to navigate challenging family dynamics as a result of faith deconstruction
One of the most challenging aspects of faith deconstruction can be family relationships. For those of us who grew up in religious families, it can be incredibly challenging to navigate those relationships when the ways that you used to relate to one another have changed - either on a significant topic or two, or what feels like your entire worldview. This could also be true for the romantic partner, your kids, or a chosen family. There is so much nuance and complexity, as well as grief and loss. When you are in it, that reality can feel incredibly lonely. Come spend some time with others who are also trying to navigate that reality with their own families, receive support for the unique circumstances you are facing, & know that you are not alone!
When: Mondays from 6:00-7:30 pm CST beginning September 16, 2024 - November 11, 2024 (taking the week of 10/21/24 off)
Who: Individuals over 18 years of age

(Re)Sourced: Reclaiming Your Life After Toxic Religion
Facilitated by Kim Johnson
Healing spiritual and religious trauma through a somatic lens
If we’ve spent time in religious spaces, a lot of our resources (belief systems, coping-skills) were likely acquired in and from those spaces. Some were spoon-fed to us in our developmental years. Others were taken on by default.
But what do we do when those spaces turn out to be harmful? When we can no longer be in those environments or subscribe to those beliefs? How do we feel safe and whole and worthy when we learned that safety and wholeness and worthiness were only accessible to us if we subscribed to certain stories? And how do we actually release those old stories from within us, where they settled in our bones, as trauma does?
Our task in recovery is to learn (or re-learn) resources that will support us, sustain us and help us thrive.
This support circle will focus on healing spiritual and religious trauma through a somatic lens. Each session will consist of a group embodiment practice, a short lesson and somatic Q + A. This group will be chock-full of tools, from journaling prompts to nervous-system settling practices and somatic inquiry, including optional homework for deeper integration.
When: Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 pm CST beginning September 17, 2024 - November 19, 2024
Who: Individuals over 18 years of age
Where: Online
Cost: $400/person (averages to $40 per session), this is a single up-front payment for all sessions
